Ben for Boonton!

Benjamin Weisman is a Boonton Ward 4 council member, Chair of the town’s Finance Committee, a Boonton Elks Club officer and a nonprofit director running for re-election to town council to preserve the historic character of Boonton while creating a more vibrant and welcoming downtown in a fiscally sensible way. Even before they moved to Boonton, Ben and his wife Lindsey had already fallen in love with the charm of this small town with a big heart. Upon buying their home, they immediately started volunteering locally to get to know the town better and do all they can to make it an even better place to live, work, walk, shop and dine. Ben has previously served Boonton on the Planning Board, Police Committee, and the Darress Theater restoration committee, and is an officer of Boonton Elks Lodge #1405 on Cornelia Street. As of the reorganization in 2024, Ben serves as Chair of the Finance Committee in town, and a member of the Economic Committee and Parking Committee. As a Boonton town council member, Ben will continue seeking improvements to make spaces welcoming, inviting and inclusionary.

As part of Ben’s advocacy work for rare disease research and funding, he mentors teens with Marfan syndrome and related conditions to help them achieve their full potential. It’s simply a fact that everyone needs support sometimes, and being helpful to others puts kindness back into a world that desperately needs more of it.  It’s also why he has been periodically involved in politics, asking legislators for funding for rare disease research, requesting proclamations in support of Marfan Awareness Month and advocating for equal rights, a fairer tax structure and replacing wasteful spending with thoughtful investments in our community.

With a desire for building value, preserving nature and our history, and investing resources strategically into this beautiful town, Ben humbly asks to be re-elected as your Ward 4 council member. With your vote and support, he will bring both his calling toward tikkun olam, or repairing the world, and his professional experience financing and budgeting for the nonprofit sector (including in the arts, in healthcare, and for a shelter for poor and homeless women) to serve as your council representative.

He welcomes your thoughts. Contact him directly at (973) 264-9369 or benforboonton@gmail.com. Thank you!
